The BBC has announced that it will introduce a new service, called MyBBCRadio, that allows listeners to take control and create their own personalized content. It will combine various services already offered by the British network, such as podcasts and Internet radio options like their on-demand iPlayer service.

Mark Thompson of the BBC said that the service would also incorporate P2P technology as well and lead to “thousands, ultimately millions, of individual radio services created by audiences themselves.”

The BBC’s online offerings have been a hit in the U.K., with 4.5 million podcasts downloaded in May alone, according to their figures. And in March, 20 million hours of online BBC programming was listened to.
