This article has been written for teachers and senior leadership teams in schools. It provides a brief overview of podcasting and how to create and listen to podcasts available on the Internet. The main section is devoted to exploring the potential of podcasting activities and scenarios for pupils and young people in schools, with reference to the National Curriculum for ICT. The use of podcasting as an alternative teaching approach and for personalised learning is also discussed. Consideration is given to issues of copyright and licences. A range of sources for further information about podcasting is also provided.
